A Mother's Love!

Last week was insane for me...report cards looming, Steve away, a presentation to get nervous about, planning for a substitute teacher, a field trip and a sick caregiver to top in all off. It just wasn't a good week! I called my Mom... of course ('cause you know just hearing your Mom's voice makes it better) and cried and whined (what I do so well ha!ha!)

Anyway to make a long story short, I'm in an in-service Friday afternoon and all of a sudden I spot my Mother in the hallway. I literally started to sob right there! Can you believe how good she is to me?!? I'd been walking around with what seemed like the weight of the world on my shoulders and in that instant she took it all away. My heart just felt so good and light again.

Did I mention that she booked the trip right after we hung up the phone and that she's leaving for Florida for over a month two days after she leaves here (and we're all showing up in FL three days later!) ONLY A MOTHER'S LOVE FOR SURE!

My bathrooms are clean, clothes washed, meals prepared (all my favourites) but mostly my babies are happy while I concentrate on report cards. AHH! All is well in my world! Mom saves the day...AGAIN!!! She's SuperMan and June Cleaver all rolled into one...and she's all mine! Thank goodness I'm an only child 'cause she'd really be exhausted! ha!ha!

Valentine's Day!

I know this post is late but better late then never right?!? Valentine's Day was fun! Steve got me some beautiful red roses and a pink one for his little princess. Abbey was so proud. She walked around with it for over an hour before she let me put it in a vase.
(notice the big cut on her chin...she banged it on the corner of Steve's massive tv...poor little thing...it's completely healed now though)

Michael wasn't really into taking pictures that day so they are mostly of Abbey (no I'm not playing favourites...one was just less cooperative then the other!!!)

Last year, on my friend blog, she posted pictures of her family and their Valentine's tradition of using champagne flutes with supper. I loved the idea! And although I'm not ready to let Abbey and Michael use my "for show" stemware, I bought plastic flutes for us to enjoy our milk in. The kids thought it was great! Steve made an awesome supper, steak, shrimp and twice baked potatoes! Abbey and Michael LOVE seafood...they must have eaten 10 shrimp each and Michael can easily put back 4 ounces of steak. It's insane!

Snow Day #5 & #6!

How do you top an amazing weekend....by having Monday and Wednesday be SNOW DAYS! Working in the Valley definitely has its perks!!!

Can you believe this picture was taken on the trails in our backyard? We are so lucky!

Michael woke up at about 5 am having to go to the bathroom so afterwards I snuck into bed with him for the last two hours of sleep (and cuddles). When he woke up he looked at me and said "Maman va à l'école?" and when I said no he said "YAY! Je t'aime maman!" What a great way to start the day. Michael is my affectionate one. He could be slamming trucks together and all of a sudden will get up to give me a hug and say "Je t'aime beaucoup comme le ciel". Every night when we have supper he'll say "Merci pour le bon souper!" He tells me I'm beautiful, or that he likes my clothes or my eyes! It kills me! I melt...I'd be in trouble if there was a Toys R Us close by. I'd buy him everything in sight!

Anyway, I'm off topic here...back to my snow days! Steve was off and our neighbour thankfully plowed us out so we had tons of time to enjoy together! Here's some pictures of the days events pre-nap (our camera is having issues so thankfully I had uploaded these ones before it died...hopefully it's nothing too serious!?!)

There are so many wonderful outdoor activities in the winter! We love them all! I'm so happy I have "outdoorsy" kids!

Snow...finally!

I LOVE it when it snows!!! We had a wonderful family weekend doing all kinds of outdoor activities. We had a blast! We even got to enjoy skating in the backyard again. Abbey and Michael are improving and are now able to stand on their own and actually push the chairs (that I will return soon lol!). Steve brought out the hockey net (yes we have one...they got it for Christmas when they were 2!!! Now who's gift was it really?!?) and the hockey sticks and had fun shooting the puck (from a standing and sitting position ha!ha!) and yelling "SCORES!!!"

After an hour out of the ice...they got a little tired and just wanted to sit and play with the pucks and sticks! (see pic below) It's so nice to be out there doing a sport that both Steve and I love with our children. I feel guilty for all the times I cursed him being out there for hours flooding.

Bath Time!

Abbey and Michael LOVE bath time! As soon as I start running the water, they run around getting so excited!

Every night before bath they do a naked parade...they take off all their clothes and run downstairs singing "Tout nu" "Tout nu" so Steve can make a big deal about it. They squeal with laughter! It's hysterical!

Poker Night/Movie Night!

Friday night, Steve was hosting the boys for Poker so Abbey, Michael and I decided we should have a fun night too. So while this...

was going on upstairs....this....

was going on downstairs!!! We had "popcorns" (as Michael calls it) and watched Land Before Time. Tons of fun and a good way to pass the time while the boys were "playing" upstairs.

I got all comfy too. Here's me cuddled on the couch with our "Big Jean" quilt. My cousin Claire MADE it for me for our wedding. It's one of my most prized possessions because although she's an expert quilter now, this was her first big project! It's HUGE and so so warm! I just love it!

It was a great start to the weekend! This morning, we had gymnastics and I'm so sad I didn't bring my camera because they let the kids play with the Rhythmic Gymnastics ribbons. It was priceless! I'm so happy with the program and the fact that both kids love it!

P.S. You'll notice that Steve has a beard in most of the recent pictures (yuck!) but it's Winter Carnival here on the Base and if you make a donation to charity you don't have to shave and being that in the military you MUST be clean shaven everyday ...this have been quite a treat for him. I'm not sure who hates in more...me or the kids! lol!
