Home Sweet Home!

Well we made it! The trip was great, kids were amazing but the weather was horrible!!! So much rain! Ugh! We stayed over in Ste-Foy, Quebec on Thursday night and woke up the next morning to shop, shop, shop! Then we drove to Montreal to shop some more! lol! We finally made it to Ottawa around 8pm on Friday night. Cute story...we stopped for lunch on the way to Ontario somewhere past Fredericton (a McDonald's with a play yard of course) and Michael & Abbey both yelled "Yay Grand-maman et Grand-papa ici!"...poor kids...little did they know they would have to wait another whole day to see them. Every time the car stopped they thought their grand-parents would be there. Cute but sad at the same time...you can imagine how happy they were when they saw them for real!!!! They were so excited...as was I!

Packing...

Only two more sleeps and we are Ontario bound! Yay! I'm in the middle of doing laundry and getting stuff organized. Abbey and Michael are almost packed...it's the first time I'm packing little undies for them...ahhh! so cute! Of course I'll just be throwing MY stuff in a suitcase about two minutes before we leave but everyone else will be good to go?!? Why is that???
I had my hair done today...was wanting to go short. Was actually thinking of something between Katie Holmes and Michelle Peters...but Cheryl (my hairdresser) insisted that I keep the length so she gave me a side swept bang and layers (Roberta, you will be so proud!). I like it but the true test will be if I can do it myself tomorrow. Ugh!
Also got my pedicure...there's nothing better eh?!?
Better run...so much to do!

My weekend in pictures...

It's been such a fun-filled weekend for me. Summer holidays are just so wonderful!!!!

Friday night we had a few friends over for some drinks. It ended up being SO much fun! Sometimes the un-expected get-togethers are the best ones!

This picture pretty much sums up the evening! hee!hee! Sociable!!! Cheers to the Greenwood Gang!!! The next morning came around WAY too quickly though! Ugh!

Saturday was the Steer BBQ in Kingston and it's a big event here. Well, big according to our village standards lol! There was a nice parade which was held down on Main Street. We walked down with two of our neighbours and their families. The kids enjoyed it, which made the parents enjoy it.

After the parade, we headed down to the fair grounds, jumped in the inflatable bouncer a few times, ate lunch and watched the dogs race through the agility courses. It was a great day. We headed back home later on for a well-deserved (and needed) nap....just as much for the kids as for Mommy and Daddy! :-)

Saturday night the "Card Making Goddesses" (hee!hee!) got together again for another round of Christmas cards. This time it was at Debbie's house. We had so much fun putting together the new cards Jill had created for us....and the dessert was deeeeeelicious!!! Here's the WHOLE gang with our finished products.

We did two projects this time because there are too many conflicting schedules for August. We already have 15 cards done! The hard part will be deciding who gets what?!?

And here we are Sunday already! This morning we had our usual big breakfast and then Steve went golfing. The kids and I went to the Base park, had lunch, got ice cream and went to eat it at the duck pond. It's been a fantastic day so far! They are napping now so all is calm!

Zoo!

Abbey, Michael and I went to the zoo today and had so much fun! It was unusually quiet which was really nice. My parents bought me a season's pass for the zoo this year and we've made such good use of it. It's already been payed for many times over. It's a gift that keeps on giving!

What would a trip to the zoo be without some ice cream afterwards. Delicious but so so messy!

Michael: "You should have gotten chocolate flavour Abbey and made it really hard for Mom to scrub these stains out!" "I even have some on my hat and up my nose! hee!hee!"

Abbey: "Mmmm, that's good! I'll get chocolate next time!" "I've made a pretty good mess of my collar for Mom!"

Michael: "Can I get a little taste of yours too?" Mmm strawberry is yummy too!

Play Date!

Today we had a wonderful Play Date with Jackson and Sophie. We had so much fun together (both the kids and the Moms hee!hee!) The park on the Base is so fantastic. It's age appropriate so you don't have to worry about the children getting hurt and all four kids play so well together.

This is our last play date for a while because the Major's are off to Mont Tremblant this week and we're heading to Ontario next week. We won't see each other until the end of August. sniff!sniff! No worries though...we'll have Facebook! lol! :-)

Sad Homecoming...

Six more soldiers died in Afghanistan this week and their bodies were scheduled to arrive in Trenton today. I can't believe how long this war has gone on and am also in disbelief at how many lives have been lost. This fight against the Taliban has left 66 Canadian military personnel dead. I pray for the mothers, fathers, children, wives, husbands and all of their friends and family.

The soldiers death really hit home as I drove into Greenwood today and looked at the front lawn of the Base Commanders house. Every tree is lined with yellow ribbons to increase support and awareness for our Valley men and women deployed overseas and more importantly, for their families who are left behind.

• receiving a huge bouquet of flowers from Steve's cousin and her family thanking us for the nice visit (so sweet!)
• playing outside with Abbey and Michael (so much fun!)
• napping with Abbey and Michael (who doesn't love napping!)
• eating a cone from Vicky's with my family (deeeelicious!)
• hearing "Coward of the County" on the radio (love that song!)
• hearing Michael and Abbey sing their favourite songs on the telephone to grand-papa and grand-maman (adorable!)
• buying a bag of fresh peas from a local farmer (LOVE LOVE raw peas!)
• having a fun time bathing Abbey and Michael (still wet from the experience but had a blast!)
• getting cuddles and kisses during story time before bed (nothing better!)
• knowing that I have 51 days of holidays left! (YAY for being a teacher!!!)

White Point Beach!

For the long weekend we decide to take a mini-vacation to White Point Beach. My friend Mary goes all the time and told me how amazing a place it is. Well she was right! We had a blast! We arrived Saturday afternoon and left Monday afternoon and took in all of the awesome amenities in between. We went paddle boating and canoing,

we went swimming like 8 times (not in the ocean....still way too cold for us!) and hot tubing (or hoptuping as Abbey says it), we chased bunnies, (unsuccessfully because Michael is incapable of tiptoeing), played at the park, made sandcastles on the beach and ate like there was no tomorrow. It was fantastic!

We can't wait to go again! It was a great way to start my holidays and to celebrate Canada Day! Abbey and Michael sang "Bonne Fete Canada!" WAY too many times! but it was so darn cute the first 50! hee!hee! The fireworks weren't a hit but I guess all children are the same. Still a little scary! Hope everyone's long weekend was as good as ours!
