Abbey's First Visit from the Tooth Fairy!

Abbey has been VERY anxious for the Tooth Fairy to come visit ever since Michael lost his first tooth months back. (He's lost two now!!) She would have me check her mouth weekly to see if any of her teeth were wiggly. FINALLY one was! I thought she would be wiggling it 24/7, eagerly trying to get it out but no...it sat and sat and sat and sat! Ugh! Do you have any idea how frustrating it is to see a tooth half hanging out just begging to be pulled and not be aloud near it!?! Argh!

Then one evening...she was ready and out if came! A perfect little white tooth!

The picture doesn't really look like there's a missing tooth but it's because the new tooth was already growing behind the baby one! It was ready to come out for sure! The Tooth Fairy wrote Abbey a little note and left $5 for her to spend! (I think Abbey will be my saver...she still hasn't spent the money! Michael had his Tooth Fairy money spent within 24 hours!!!)

Halloween 2010

Michael and Abbey LOVE Halloween! They get so excited about their costumes and of course the candy!! This year Michael was Mario from Super Mario Bros. and Abbey was a Queen. Although it wasn't a cold evening, Halloween 2010 was a wet one. It misted on and off during our trek around the block with our neighbours. We had a great time nonetheless, running from house to house and scored LOTS of loot!

Thanksgiving 2010!

Our Nova Scotia Thanksgiving tradition involves Grandma and Grandpa McAlpine coming to visit! We always have a great time together! This year didn't disappoint!

October Visit!

Grand-maman et Grand-papa came to visit during the first week of October. The weather was incredible and it was so nice to see them again. Since my Dad drove up with me at the end of August (my Mom was sick with pneumonia), we hadn't all been together for close to two months...a lifetime apart in Paquin timeline so it was a super reunion! Lots of good quality time spent together!

After church on Sunday, we went to Hall's Harbour for lunch. What a beautiful view!

Mrs. Green Thumb!

This summer I decided to plant tomatoes! I had been wanting to for a long time but wasn't sure how to go about it. (city girl?!?) I planted the plants into a large pot and they grew....quickly!!! Here is my beautiful tomato plant growing during the summer. (totally outgrowing the pot it's in!)

I loved taking care of my tomato plants...but it seemed like forever until the tomatoes actually came. When we left for Ontario for the month of August, I was nervous my dream of harvesting tomatoes would be gone for the year BUT I was pleasantly surprised to see my plant surviving (not quite as pretty as before we left but producing tomatoes nonetheless!)

Well I'm happy to report that my three little tomato plants produced LOTS of juicy little tomatoes. Michael and Abbey LOVED picking everyday! We've eaten sooooo many tomatoes this summer! Delicious! Can't wait for next year already!

(we didn't like the yellow mini tomatoes so we'll leave those out next year...they were pretty but not so tasty!)

Grade One!

I can hardly believe Abbey and Michael are going into Grade One! Where has the time gone?! This year Steve was away...again...for the first week of school but my little honeys were awesome about getting up early (shockingly early as they usually rise around 8:30ish) and taking the bus (who can forget last year's fiasco!!!). We were up very early and at the bus stop by 7:30 (insert groan here!). My good friend Janice met their bus at the school to make sure Abbey and Michael didn't get lost in the shuffle of first day mayhem....it just breaks my heart that I can't be there for them but Janice is a sweetheart and offered to do it again this year. Here are some pictures she captured of the first day of school 2010.

Here they are just getting off the bus at R-D-V! It was sooo hot out! Felt like 33 degrees! oye!

This picture makes me sad! They look so grown up (even from the back) going off to their classroom independently. I'm so happy they have each other!

Update: Grade One is off to a great start! Abbey and Michael love their teacher and so far...Mommy does too! LOL!

LAS VEGAS!!!

I LOVE Las Vegas!!! It's the most amazing place! There's entertainment that's second to none (we saw the "O" and the Viva Elvis Cirque du Soleil shows this time), phenomenal restaurants (Deeeelicious with a capital "D"!), nightlife galore (oh yes!!!) and shopping that'll make your jaw drop ! (cha-ching!)  All this within walking distance! Plus...you can drink, alcohol, in the streets!!!!

We had an even better time this year than last summer...who would have thunk it?!

Here's a glimpse of how ultra over the top Vegas is...I have a video of the water show at Bellagio. Steve and I ate at two restaurants overlooking it and think there are at least 5 different shows set to different music. It goes every 15 minutes and is amazing!

Fun Fact...both fountain shows were set to Canadian artists (Celine Dion and David Foster).
